DAUGHTERS OF THE DIASPORA

OUR STORY

We grew up watching our mothers and grandmothers make traditional honey wine for celebrations and ceremonies. We studied their process and kept a watchful eye on the measurements and ingredients. Those moments were more than just recipes – they were lessons in heritage, in honoring where we come from, and the customs that tie us together. And now, with Keda Honey Wine, we're pouring our hearts into every bottle, paying tribute to them, to our culture, and to the age-old practices that make each sip a journey back home.

MORE ABOUT KEDA

We started our business with a strong passion towards making waves within the exclusive wine industry. We celebrate the leading role of women in this long-standing cultural practice and want to reclaim it. So we rolled up our sleeves and took matters into our own hands, quite literally. In our tiny Brooklyn apartments we transformed into brewers, marking the birth of Keda Honey Wine.

With an artful blend of time, technique, and the highest-quality ingredients, we refined the balance of taste, texture, and smoothness to create a superior honey wine that feels indulgent, yet approachable. We’re proud to say that our honey wine delivers a richer, more dynamic taste profile that sets it apart from the rest — and we promise you’ll taste the difference in every sip.

Cheers to keeping the flame of tradition alive, one drop of honey at a time!

OUR ETHOS

Keda Honey Wine believes in the continuation of tradition, while producing a sustainable, eco-friendly product that supports the overall health of bees and pollinator populations. We are committed to preserving this cultural legacy, proudly celebrating the leading role of women, engaging in environmentally conscious practices, and ensuring a thriving ecosystem for future generations.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Legend has it that honey wine holds tales as rich as its flavor. One story echoes the grace of Queen Sheba, also known as Makeda. She was the ruler of an ancient kingdom located in present day Ethiopia and Eritrea and during a royal visit, she gifted and toasted King Solomon with a glass of honey wine, a wine that was reserved for the highest echelons of society. Renowned for her wit, intellect, and foresight, Makeda's legacy continues to inspire. It's from this wellspring of inspiration that Keda finds its name– a nod to the shortened version of Makeda.

This iconic beverage has now been infused with a modern touch so that everyone, everywhere and at any time can toast with a glass of Keda Honey Wine. Keda sees the nobility in you!
